KEDARNATH WEATHERSummer – The summer season in Kedarnath lasts from the months of April / May to early July. The weather is pleasant and extremely charming which also increases the pure and untouched beauty of the surrounding valley. This is also the peak pilgrimage season when the temperature varies in between 10 to 18 degree Celsius and in some cases it can also go up to 22 degree Celsius. The days are cool and comfortable whereas the nights are very chilly and tough but not as tough as the ones experienced in the winter time. During this time one can even go for some additional sightseeing of the nearby regions as well.
Monsoon – This season constitutes the months of early July to early September. Travelling is not recommended around this time and most of the services including the helicopter rides are suspended during the peak monsoon season. The number of pilgrims witness a drastic fall this is due to the fact that the region remains susceptible to unexpected landslides and flooding situations. Sightseeing is not possible around this time and the temperature even drops around these months to as low as 10 to 12 degree Celsius. However if you do happen upon a few days of sun then make the trip happen as you will be able to avail the cheapest deals on hotels and transportation.
Winter – The winter months in Kedarnath include the months of mid September to March. This is the time when the weather is hostile in the entire region and everything gets covered in a thick blanket of snow. Travelling is prohibited around this time and the temperature drops to sub zero levels. The temple shuts down around the time of late October or early November which is marked by the shifting of the idol of the presiding deity to the ancient temple in the region of Ukhimath.
Summer season i.e. the months of April / May to early July is considered to be the best time to visit Kedarnath Dham. One can even go for some refreshing sightseeing around the region as well. All the transportation and hotel services are readily available during this time as well. so if you are planning to visit Kedarnath temple then make sure to book your packages way before hand and for around these months.
